Dear Parents,
We are excited to inform you that Bark Parent Portal emails have been sent out. Kindly keep an eye out for them and proceed with the setup process. This advanced monitoring system has proven to be highly effective in ensuring the well-being of our students. As a parent, you will receive the same alerts that our teachers receive.
Thank you for your cooperation and involvement in creating a safe and nurturing environment for our students.
Best regards,
Shailynn Cornett, Director of Technology

After their last day of school, GEMS Staff members worked together to clean their stretch of highway assigned through the Adopt-A-Highway program. Organizer and retired staff member, Steve Wassmuth, has made it a tradition to tag grocery bags with rocks in them for participants to find. Then staff members return their tags to redeem them for "fabulous" prizes from the dollar store, garage sales, or his stash of white elephant gifts.

On Monday, June 5, the GEMS Fine Arts Class will present their play: Alice in Wonderland. The play will start at 6:30 in the Multi-Purpose Room at GEMS.

It has come to the attention of the Band & Choir Directors that Baseball, Softball, and other conflicts will be removing around half of the performing students if we leave the concert at the originally scheduled time of 6:30 on June 1. No other dates are open for the directors/students/athletes to perform their concert. We feel the only reasonable choice that honors the needs of the students is to move the concert to earlier in the day. The GEMS Middle School Band & Choir Concert will happen at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 1 in the GEMS Multi-Purpose Room.

MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE...As part of the City of Grangeville’s Spring Clean-up, Middle School Students are invited to join a team at 9 AM sharp on Friday, May 19, at the GEMS playground—then each team will take an area and pick-up trash (disposable gloves & trash bags provided). NOTE: Elementary students who are accompanied by their parents throughout the event are also welcome to attend.
We will work on the residential streets around town until about noon then meet back at GEMS for a lunch provided by the PTO.
Adults who are available to help out are definitely needed and appreciated. Please respond to this email or call the school if you are available this Friday from 9:00 to noonish to support these students in serving their community.

Friday, May 19, GEMS Middle School (students, parents, and educators) will be showing we are BULLDOG PROUD. We will be joining in the Grangeville Spring Cleanup with a Community Teamwork Day. Volunteers will gather at 9 AM at GEMS to join teams and then fan out to assigned areas to make sure the streets of Grangeville are clean. Residents or nonprofits who need some helping hands for yard cleanup, etc. can also contact the school at 208-983-0400 to arrange for a team to assist. The city will be picking up the trash and yard waste collected that day. We are excited to pay forward the volunteerism and good will that sustains GEMS throughout the school year.
Lunch will be provided for our volunteers by the GEMS PTO.

We feel so honored to have been given a new-to-us baby grand piano! Judy Jefferies donated her beloved piano to GEMS last week. It had been in her family for over 75 years and she played it for many of those years. She and her husband, Arge, are moving to Meridian and decided to donate the piano to GEMS instead of selling it or moving it. A big thanks to Ty Reuter and the Brandts for helping move it - not an easy job for an instrument of this size and weight! And no, they are not available to move more pianos any time soon :) Stop in and see our new "baby" in Miss Carla's Music Room!

The whole community is invited to join us for a fun evening of dancing; polka's, circle mixers, reels and more! Come in comfy clothes and bring some water!

Join us for a fun evening of dancing for the whole family. Dances can be learned by all ages! Bring your water bottle and wear comfy clothes!

GEMS Talent Show is coming up!

Middle School Concert on Tuesday!!
See ya there!!

Since RESPECT is one of our core values that guide our school expectations and it is the value of the month of January, we are making a Word Cloud of our own--similar to the one you see here. All GEMS stakeholders are invited to submit five synonyms that relate to how they show respect or feel the respect of others.
Nouns, verbs, and adjectives are all fine. Phrases do not work very well in Word Clouds--so just use single words. In a word cloud, any responses that get mentioned by more than one person are bigger-- so if multiple people mentioned it, it will be bigger on the Word Cloud image on our final product. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmfpuV5txdGJTeHh0KeAcl2-1RrI462MbjXEjUI4OPKDs-4Q/viewform?usp=sf_link

Due to drifts and wind, we will have a two hour delay in school starting tomorrow. At this point, the plan is for the bus routes to run two hours later. Keep safe and warm.
