The General Meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by President Jenifer Harris.

Minutes of Previous Meeting
Minutes of the previous meeting May 5, 2016 read and approved as amended.
Actual Checking Account Balance Today $2,986.70
Actual Savings Account Balance Today $5187.88
Katie Told reported that the audit will be closed by next meeting.
PTA Scholarship of $250 awarded to Darby Finnegan. There were five applicants; none were going into the field of education.
Electronic Reader Board sign is completely paid for and fabricated and ready to install according to Dr. Susan Anderson. She also reports that the company stated the sign would be here before school starts. The PTA funded $9,917 for the Reader Board.
Health Fair was not held in May for 4th through 8th graders
Shelly Andrews reported that the PTA still has three $25 gift cards to Mixed Bags. Holly motioned that these gift cards be used for a quarterly drawing among the teachers who attend the PTA meetings. Beth MacGregor seconded the motion. Motion moved.
Back to School events planned:
Meet the Teacher. Monday August 22, 2016: PTA Booths will be set up in both halls encouraging membership and providing popsicles to the students. Popsicles cost 15 cents each. Approximately 300 will be ordered for a $50 budget. Heidi York and Holly Lefebvre volunteered to direct new parents and help orient them at the school and provide introductions. An information packet will be provided as well. Dr. Susan Anderson offered to draft the information packet with information, such as where kids can play before school, pick up areas and times, multipurpose room definition, bus etiquette, pink slip definition, how to find the cafeteria balance, lunch room expectations, where to hang your coat at breakfast, dress code, locking doors, volunteering, room parent, etc. Holly offered to help also.
First Day of School: Lindsay Denuit and Jemmye Green plan to set up a Photo Booth with different props at the playground and different doors. PTA volunteers plan leave a pack of Kleenex and Hershey Kisses with the Teachers to provide to parents. Teachers prefer the parents bring their child in to the room to orient the child to the classroom. Duty teachers will encourage parents to take their child to the classroom.
Teacher Breakfast Potluck Buffet style planned for Friday, August 26, with breakfast items dropped off by 7:00 AM
Beth motioned, Holly seconded. Motion moved to proceed with Back to School events as planned.

Agendas: Discussion ensued regarding funding agendas. The advertisers on the back of the agendas have sponsored to paying money for that spot. The company that prints the agendas have already contacted the advertisers according to Dr. Anderson. Katie Told will get the company information from Connie Green, and the board will contact the sponsors for the funds. PTA will provide the amount of money received from the advertisers for the agendas. Funds will not come from PTA directly for these in 2016.
Jog-A-Thon: The Jog-A-Thon committee will find sponsors for t-shirts to cover the cost of the shirts. A color run will be held for Jr. High. Approximately $1,500 is allocated for water, snacks, and color. The committee will provide an update at the September meeting. The date for Jog-A-Thon is September 30th.
Red Ribbon Week: This event will be turned over to student council, but $50 is allocated to arrange the activities. There are bracelets from last year that will be provided to the student council.
Box Tops: The budget allows for a party each semester and shipping of the box tops.
Reflections: The budget was increased to make this a special occasion to encourage more involvement in this national program.
Motivational Speaker for 7-8 grades: A National Speaker, Jeff Yalden, voted number one by high schoolers motivational speaker is to discuss relationships and social media. Scheduled for March 14, 2016 for one hour community invited then a teacher inservice after school. PTA would like to re-evaluate at middle of the year to see if we can donate more.
Teacher Appreciation: Budgeted $150 (Last year brought in over $400 and spent only $100 from the budget). Jemmye and Lindsay plan to continue this again this year but with sponsors for each day.
Reading Program: The budget will include a program for 2nd through 8th grades. The AR store will be discontinued. The reading program to be funded has not been decided.
Fall Conference reported to be free to attend and the $75 budget it to cover travel expense.
Spring Conference increased to cover the cost of attendance.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS): Brittany Stewart presented this school-wide program to recognize students for meeting positive expectations. Funds will support a reward system for students, such as, an ice cream party, movie and popcorn party, or outdoor water balloon party. The rewards are to be decided. The funds will cover the PBIS reward for the first two quarters. The budget will be revisited in December or January.
State Testing Celebration: Angie Edwards requested that PTA fund a post-testing celebration for students. Jenifer Harris suggesting funding an assembly for the students, such as a play, jump-rope team, magician, etc. Could pair with CVE to off-set the cost of an out of area guest.
Holly motioned to approve the Budget for 2016-2017 year. Beth seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Fundraising and update on Jog-a-thon.
Brittany Stewart will provide more detail on PBIS.
Edie Lustig, a paraprofessional, would like to discuss engaging Room Parents bringing parents into the classroom to read to students.
Discussed the need to nominate a co-chairperson for Reflections to work with Genny Lutz since this is her last year.
Need to nominate a chairperson the Reading Incentive programs.
