Welcome to Elk City School
Welcome Back! Another school year has arrived and we are in full operations. I felt it
necessary to update you on Covid-19 impacts as it relates to your student(s).
I shared with you “Safe Return to In-Person Instruction” outline at the very beginning of
the school year. Please refer to these guidelines, as there could be some useful information for
your family. We are experiencing Covid-19 cases in our area schools. I want to have you all
informed in case an alteration to our school day or week ensues.
Our schools are prepared in case of school closure due to impacts from Covid-19. If a
closure happens, it could be for a few days as the situation is assessed. Impacts due to high
absenteeism and the lack of teacher substitutes could cause a school closure. Only schools
impacted could go into a temporary closure. An emergency notice (similar to a winter weather
closure) will be sent via our information systems. Please be patient if a closure occurs. There
are many moving parts for our schools and our team will do their very best to continue
educational services (There could be a pause in services). Your students building principal and
teacher(s) will share information accordingly.
Parents and guardians, please continue to do your part in assessing your student(s) each
day before bringing them to school. If they exhibit any signs of fever or other elements of
illness, please keep them home. School staff will do their best to inform you if an exposure has
occurred. Having your support is critical in moving our school year forward.
