4-21-2020 Parent Update
Dear Mountain View School District Community,
At last night’s April Board meeting, the Mountain View School District Board of Trustees accepted the Idaho Board of Public Education recommendation to extend “soft closure” of schools until the end of each district’s school year. The end of our school year is May 21st for students and May 22nd for staff. This means no students and public in MVSD facilities until after May 22nd.
The only exception to this closure is if local health officials determine it is safe for students to return to school. ANY proposed reopening prior to May 22nd requires approval by a team of local health officials such at the North Central Public Health District and other local health providers. This team would use a set of strict criteria developed by the Idaho Board of Public Education.
Public education in the State of Idaho remains an essential service and will continue by means of distance education in a variety of forms during soft closure. Educators and support staff in the District will continue to provide education for students grades K-12 during this period.
All staff are checking in daily with their building principals and supervisors. Staff are working from home and from school to provide ongoing instruction to our students. Our teachers and support staff are continuing to work with parents and students to provide the best possible education for our students under the current conditions.
We will continue distributing meals (breakfast and lunch) to any child ages 1 through 18. The meals are being distributed at bus stops beginning at 10:00 each day, Monday through Friday, until May 22nd. There will be a break in this service the week of May 25th and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience. Meal service will resume June 1st and continue through the month of June. Meals are also being distributed Monday through Friday at: Clearwater Valley Elementary, Grangeville Elementary Middle School, and the Family Dollar parking lot in Grangeville from 11:00 AM until 12:00 P.M. Meals are also being provided in Elk City from 12:30-1:00 P.M.
We again thank you for your patience and understanding. As a community working together for our children, we will persevere through this challenge. Please continue to monitor your school’s website and Facebook pages for additional information and updates. If you have questions, please email your school’s principal.
